21 January, 2009 Washington, (D.C.) NATEPERKINS.TV: vIDEO RELEASE News, President Barack Obama Inaugural Live NEWSROOM coverage. Washington, DCU.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, today issued the following statement in response to reports of incidents which prevented a large number of ticketholders from reaching their designated areas at the 56th Presidential Inaugural Ceremony:

Following is Senator Feinsteins statement:

I have just spoken with Mark Sullivan, Director of the Secret Service, and I have asked him to convene along with the U.S. Capitol Police, all law enforcement and other parties involved in planning for this Inaugural to conduct a prompt investigation into two serious incidents that have been reported. These reports have prompted great concern by members of the Inaugural Committee, including Senator Bob Bennett, and by Congress in general.

The specific incidents include the report that a decision was made to cut off access to Purple and Blue standing areas, which meant that a large number of ticketholders could not reach their designated areas.

I am also aware of the incident involving the 3rd Street Tunnel, where thousands of people were stuck for several hours and apparently without any law enforcement presence.

There may have also been other irregularities, but I have heard enough to know that something went wrong and we need to find out what happened. Mr. Sullivan has indicated that he will provide a full report.

I would encourage people who have direct information about these incidents to contact the Secret Service, in addition to contacting the Joint Congressional Committee for Inaugural Ceremonies at feedback@jccic.senate.gov.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2009 In a sermon today at Howard University's chapel in Washington, Wright used Obama's life as an example to show how despite challenges as a nation, the country can build a better future.

"He was able to do what nobody of African decent was ever able to do in the 211-year history of this country. ... The Lord stepped into his story and gave him a new attitude," he said.

It was a completely different scene from Wright's defiant appearance at the National Press Club in April. Gone was any hint of anger directed at Obama for denouncing his more controversial sermons and statements, which became fodder for Obama's critics during the presidential campaign.

As for last night's debate, I thought Joe Biden hit it out of the ballpark. Biden was talking to America, Sarah Palin was talking to the right-wing base. Unfortunately for the Republicans, this election is not going to be a base election primarily because the economy is the number one issue on voter's minds. Appealing strictly to the base is a recipe for disaster on Nov 4. You have to appeal to economically anxious independent voters.

On next Tuesday's townhall debate in Tennessee, I hope Barack is really preparing for it. Barack has always been very comfortable talking about foreign policy so I knew he'd do well in the first debate which focused more on foreign policy. During the primaries though, I thought Hillary did a better job in the debates on domestic policy. She connected more on economic issues. She used phrases like "I'm going to fight for you", "I'm not going to forget that coal miner in West Virginia", etc. I know it was a bit of an act, but she demonstrated a clear ability to "feel people's pain". I want to see more of that from Barack. Barack should tell stories too about the hardships people are experiencing right now all across America.

The Obama campaign site has a very good "Issues" page. I hope Barack reads every single "issues" item on that page from the civil rights section to the women's section. We should expect some variations of questions on God, guns, abortion, and other cultural issues. I want to see Barack make this second debate a sharp contrast between the Bush-McCain ideology and Obama-Biden ideology -- Obama-Biden would fight for working families on taxes, jobs, health care, and look out for the little guy, while McCain-Palin would be a continuation of Bush-Cheney disastrous policies. Hammer this point over and over again.


Thanks again for your continued support for the Obama campaign. Don't forget -- This is a critical weekend as Oct 6 is the deadline for voter registration in most states. So this is the weekend to register as many voters as possible. Get out and have some fun registering new voters before the deadline!

Very Interesting World War II Picture. Why?

The enclosed World War II picture has been on my mind for the last year. Knowing World War II American history, I find that this picture is a hidden jewel if not probably one of the rarest in our US history.

First all this is a picture of American soldiers probably from the same unit that just got finished fighting a battle with the Germans. It would appear that all are a team unit.

Very Interesting World War II Picture. Why?

The enclosed World War II picture has been on my mind for the last year. Knowing World War II American history, I find that this picture is a hidden jewel if not probably one of the rarest in our US history.

First all this is a picture of American soldiers probably from the same unit that just got finished fighting a battle with the Germans. It would appear that all are a team unit.

However, there is someone of interest that I thought would not have the opportunity to be in such picture.
